Blogathon is 24 hours of blogging on your own site, for the charity of
your choice, updating once every 30 minutes. The idea is to raise pledges to keep you going and all of the pledges will translate to donations for the charity of your choice. It is an annual event that
has been taking place since 2000.
In 2008 Blogathon Vancouver was created (in the spirit of Blogathon.org) and a dozen local bloggers raised over $10,000 for charities in a single 24-hour period.
Blogathon Vancouver 2009 will have a location in case participants (who signed up for Blogathon) want a place to gather and Workspace has been kind enough to donate their venue.
Usually everyone just blogs from home but for 2009 I thought I would
mix things up and host an event where participants can stay the entire
time or simply stop by.
With a neat setting, Gastown right outside the
door, and hopefully some visitors, the 24 hours (and 48 posts in a row)
should go by in no time.
Schedule:
5:45am - Arrive and setup blogger stations
6:00am - Start Bloggging!
1:00pm - Lunch arrives, thanks to Dairy Queen
6:00pm - Dinner arrives, thanks to the Developmental Disabilities Association
7:00pm - 10:00pm - Musical interludes provided by Rachael Chatoor and also Mojave
6:00am - All done!
Throughout the day supports will also be stopping by and coffee will be supplied by Workspace (either by someone from Workspace or self-serve).
Should you wish to not be disturbed (although visitors = great post ideas) there are seperate rooms in which you can setup to have some peace & quiet.
